Anchorage's Value Village is a secondhand store selling family clothing, dinnerware, accessories, books, housewares and electronics. The store belongs to TVI, Inc., a for-profit company in the Savers family of thrift stores. Shopping here doesn't benefit a charity. Donations do: the company pays The Arc of Anchorage, which supports people who experience disabilities, for the goods dropped off.
The donation center takes clothing and shoes, bags, bedding and bath items, books and media, games and toys, sporting goods, small appliances and small furniture. People who drop off clothing or household items get a discount on their next purchase. Shoppers 55 and older save every Tuesday, and Super Savers Club members get sales of their own. Its red sign sits inside a peaked blue frame. The store is open seven days a week and stays open into the evening.
